M & M Spink is a small family run business that originally started in 1965. Priding itself on the production of the local delicacy "The Arbroath Smokie", now world renowned. In 2004 the Arbroath Smokie gained European status that states it can only be called such if it is produced within a 5-mile radius of Arbroath. Martin Spink now runs the business and is carrying on the tradition. Martin's father (William 'Bill' Spink), grandparents and great grandparents made traditional 'Smokies' in the small fishing village of Auchmithie which lies just outside Arbroath.
Bill Spink has featured in numerous newspaper, magazines, food guides and programmes over the years. These include 'Bon Appetite' and the 'Deli and Good Food Directory of Scotland'. However, it was Bill's appearance on 'Sea Fares Guide' with Rick Stein that brought him internationally renowned.
Martin and his family take great pride in the fact that the fish is prepared and smoked daily, which assures customers of the freshness and quality.
